You might have heard it through the digital grapevine: one of the recent improvements we made to our product is providing our customers with Single Sign-On (SSO).<\/p>\n

Simply put, SSO is a session and user authentication service that allows software users to use one single set of credentials (say \u2018username\u2019 and \u2018password\u2019) across multiple applications.<\/p>\n

Widely considered as the more secure login option, SSO allows for centralized control over not only zenloop, but your internal infrastructure. So how can signing in once with one password be more secure than multiple times with multiple passwords? Let\u2019s take a look:<\/span><\/p>\n

1. More secure passwords<\/h4>\n

As users only have one password, it stands to reason that SSO makes it easier to create, remember and use stronger passwords.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. No duplicate passwords<\/h4>\n

One strong password is better than multiple weak passwords, right? When having to remember multiple passwords, \u201cpassword fatigue\u201d is likely to set in and users will often reuse passwords across all services. This is a huge security risk, if attackers get a hold of one password – they can use it to hack the users\u2019 other services as well. Infrastructure admins may choose to force re-entering of passwords after a certain time to ensure the user is still active on logged-in devices. With SSO, they have a central place to do this for all internal apps, instead of enforcing it across multiple apps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Often user passwords are stored remotely by applications and services that may not follow recommended security practices. With SSO, however, these passwords can be stored internally in an environment that an IT team has control over.<\/span><\/p>\n

As it\u2019s only one password, SSO is a great way for IT teams to efficiently manage security rules. For example, with SSO the periodic resetting of passwords is easier to enforce as users only have one password to reset.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to these security benefits, SSO also reduces the time IT has to spend on helping users reset passwords across dozens of apps or tools. Additionally, users spend less time signing into these apps or tools – increasing their productivity.<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Multi-factor authentication<\/h4>\n

Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, is the use of more than one identity factor (such as email & password + SMS code) used to authenticate a user – making it more secure than relying on a password alone. With SSO, MFA only needs to be activated at a single point, instead of multiple apps.<\/span><\/p>\n
