Do they love you? The Net Promoter Score\u00ae (NPS) will help you find out. In other European countries, and especially the USA, the NPS system is held in very high regard. Depending on which company from which area sets the NPS survey and which target group is asked will greatly affect the relative positive or negative score.<\/p>\n<p>According to a study of 1,000 respondents conducted by defacto research &amp; consulting GmbH and the University of Bamberg, Amazon, with an NPS of 23 placed first with a significant lead over several industries. It was unimportant if the respondent had purchased from the retailer or not. When taking only the score of those who had shopped there into account, the NPS rose to 43.<\/p>\n<p>In the fashion industry, Hugo Boss topped the ranking with an NPS of 21. Mercedes Benz had almost twice as much, 40 points, taking the top spot in the car industry.<\/p>\n<p>Banks, on the other hand, enjoy relatively little trust in Germany and slide therefore into the minus zone. Values in the\u00a0<strong>USA<\/strong>, for example, are much higher:\u00a0<strong>Tesla<\/strong>, according to npsbenchmarks.com, has a\u00a0<strong>score of 97<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Apple 89<\/strong>. These are the kind of scores that companies here in Germany can only dream of. What\u2019s the cause of this? Does it really stem from a negative attitude towards products and companies, or do cultural differences also play a role?<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-sub-section\" id=\"CrossBorderComparisonsasaChallengefortheNPSSystem\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"section-title\">Cross Border Comparisons as a Challenge for the NPS System<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"grid\" style=\"grid-template-columns:\t2fr 1fr\">\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col \">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Net Promoter Index originally came from the USA and established itself there as a basic business and marketing metric. So far the relationship between Net Promoter Score and business growth has only been researched in the USA and Great Britain. On top of this, studies have shown that the same ranking scale has a different meaning for customers in different countries.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Whilst a US consumer commonly expresses their satisfaction with a rating of 9, many Chinese achieve the same with a rating of 8, Malaysians only 7. There the best ratings of 8 to 10 are hardly ever awarded.<\/li>\n<li>Poland and Norway also tend towards negative judgments: they almost never award the values of 9 and 10 in a survey, whereas in Russia almost 20 percent of respondents show their satisfaction with the highest values.<\/li>\n<li>Germany reveals itself to be critical to neutral, without being aware of it. The question of recommending the good or service to a friend is most commonly answered with 7 or 8. According to the official NPS-Barometer, that is a \u201cpassive purchasing style\u201d. The customer, however, believes they have given a good grade.<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>German customers do not, therefore, have a poor opinion towards companies and products. They simply express their agreement on the NPS scale lower down than the average American.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-sub-section\" id=\"NPSDependentonIndustryandCountry\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"section-title\">NPS: Dependent on Industry and Country<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"grid\" style=\"grid-template-columns:\t2fr 1fr\">\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col \">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A\u00a0<strong>sensible comparison of an NPS within an industry or company overseas is not possible<\/strong>. The value is useful in the country it was generated in, and only for the specific branch or product that was surveyed.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, a\u00a0<strong>wide-reaching knowledge about the different cultural backgrounds for each response is necessary<\/strong>\u00a0in order to effectively rate the score. In the Anglo-Saxon world, NPS is a valid indicator of the popularity and ultimately the success of a company or product. But even in Germany, the NPS has found its place in the Marketing Mix, even though not all consumers know what the expression means.<\/p>\n<p>In German companies, the NPS is increasingly popular, as the method allows one to\u00a0<strong>gather information about\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zenloop.com\/en\/resources\/retention\/customer-loyalty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>customer loyalty<\/strong><\/a> in the easiest way, and the results are exciting when the additional question \u201cWhat is the main reason for the rating that you just gave?\u201d is asked.\u00a0This allows one to get closer to the reason for each comment and find a\u00a0<a title=\"Article: Would You Like to Increase Customer Satisfaction? A single NPS will give you a <strong>snapshot for a momentary comparison with your industry competitors. Still, it<\/strong> does nothing to help you calculate a positive or negative development. Only when you have survey information from a more extended period can you conclude how your company is developing.<\/p>\n<p>German consumers only find out through laborious research the NPS of companies here. In contrast, in the USA, companies make a song and dance about it.
